Training – Begins

With Autumn coming up, it’s about time I began getting in shape and learning about the art of thru-hiking. To date, my modest experience of hiking comes in the form of the Salkantay Trek in Peru, so it’s safe to say I have a lot to learn!

Here I am setting off on the Salkantay. Already slacking.

We peaked the Salkantay on the second day! This was our group.

We made it along the railway and were in serious need of a sit down and sun cream top up!

The trail ended at the base of Machu Picchu, with a view to climbing it the following day.

Whilst the trail’s obviously a hefty physical exertion, research from 90% of my sources from “The University of Google.com” express that the trail’s more about the mental day-to-day grind of thru-hiking. It’s estimated that approximately 50-60% of aspiring thru-hikers fail to complete it, so I’m going to use that as a motivation to be one of the other 40-50% who do.

Lots more training updates to come in my blog section.
